Vision Statement: Improving lives by improving libraries.

Mission Statement: The Nevada Library Association enriches the lives and lifelong learning of all Nevadans by promoting the common bond and development of libraries and their personnel.





A. NLA will become a more active resource for promotion of all libraries in the state.

B. NLA will increase advocacy for libraries by creating advocates from its membership.

A.1. Attend more state, local, and government functions, meetings, and public hearings as relevant.

A.2. Expand participation in Library Legislative Day, National and State.

A.3. Develop and promote an advocacy institute, virtual and/or conference.

A.4. Invite government officials and decision makers from throughout the state to NLA’s Annual Conference.

A.5. Promote and participate in Library Snapshot Day.

B.1. Develop an advocacy information sheet for NLA members to use.

B.2. Create/maintain an advocacy link from NLA homepage to direct members to “Take Action” center.

B.3. Develop alerts and widgets for NLA advocacy matters.





A. NLA will increase support for libraries by providing resources for trustees.

B. NLA will include trustees in more events and communications.

A.1. Provide a resource, for trustees, for advocacy and library leadership.

A.2. Develop and promote a trustee institute, virtual and/or conference.

B.1. Provide a trustee track of programs at NLA Annual Conference.

B.2. Invite trustees from all over the state to NLA conferences, meetings, and events.




Professional Development

A. NLA will provide its members with a variety of development opportunities.

B. NLA will provide further resources for professional development information.

A.1. Develop and support virtual access programs to bring staff development opportunities to libraries throughout the state.

A.2. Provide high-interest and informative programming based on member surveys and data.

A.3. Recognize the diversity of libraries by including staff throughout the state in events and communications: academic, public, school, law, business, medical, support staff, administrative, etc.

A.4. Provide low-cost virtual component to annual conference to increase access to training.

A.5. Provide and promote trainings to library assistants/paraprofessionals.

B.1. Post and maintain a calendar of webinars for easy access to free and convenient training opportunities.

B.2. Create and maintain online access to all sorts of professional development topics, including: management, youth, school, academic, etc.
