Records seem to indicate that the White Pine District, covering White Pine, Lincoln, Nye and Esmeralda Counties, was formed in the late 1950's. An Eastern District was formed in Elko County in 1959. Its name was changed to the Northeast District in 1961. Sometime between 1967 and 1973, the two districts merged under the name of the Northeast District. In 1973, the district gained representation on the NLA board of trustees with the transition to the new bylaws.
