2013 Awards

Jeanne Goodrich, Las Vegas-Clark County Library District

Librarian of the Year goes to a Library Director who has created great institutional change in her library district through the very challenging financial climate that we have all experienced in Nevada Through the tough times she has placed an emphasis on her community, partnering with over 100 community organizations such as the Boys and Girls Club in an effort to increase literacy and help residents with issues like health, finance, job skills, foreclosure assistance and more. Her philosophy is that libraries are and should be a vital part of communities, providing people with information that can make a difference to their lives, and she has been tremendously successful in communicating those values and helping her staff carry out that mission.

Cyrus Ford, University of Nevada, Las Vegas

Our first recipient of NLA's SPECIAL CITATION AWARD is a man who has worked tirelessly in the field of cataloging.  He took the initiative to set up and support a five day workshop focused on the new RDA standard. Because the Library of Congress has fully committed to implementing RDA, it was vitally important that libraries in our region be trained in the new standard. The workshop was sponsored by NLA and CAPTAIN   and was attended by librarians from Henderson District Pubic Libraries, Roseman University of Health Sciences, Nevada State College and the University of Nevada Las Vegas. In his spare time he is Chair of CAPTAIN for NLA, has been active in the Online Audio Visual Cataloguers Organization (OLAC), and has been extremely active in NLA

Hope Williams, Nevada State Library and Archives

She is passionate and dedicated, and has taken on the thankless task of bringing new people into the Nevada Library Association for longer than anyone should be expected serve, but we are all very glad she has chosen to do so. She is patient, organized, and pure pleasure to work with....I'd like to present our next SPECIAL CITATION AWARD winner Hope Williams.

I would like to thank her for her service to this organization and recognize ROBERTA DEBUFF with NLA's PAST PRESIDENT’S AWARD.
